New York (AP) – New York City rapper joins President Donald Trump Campaign meeting Last year he was sentenced to five years behind bars after admitting to using proceeds from his music career to fuel gang violence in Brooklyn.
Chef G, Michael Williams, will also have to serve in five years of supervised releases after being released under the terms of the sentence imposed on Wednesday.
He and the judge agreed to the rapper’s sentence Plead guilty Earlier this year, in an attempt to murder and intrigue. The prosecutor wanted a 20-year sentence.
“The defendant had talent and opportunity, but instead of building a better future, he chose to use them to promote violence,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said after the verdict.
The 27-year-old rapper, with millions of YouTube views and Spotify streams in songs and videos, was one of those arrested in connection with a long-term investigation into gang-related shootings in Brooklyn. Allegations of violence against Chef G had already been released when he appeared on stage with Trump in May 2024.

Among those charged were Tegan Chambers, a rapper known as Three-People, who appeared on stage with Trump and Chef G on May 23, 2024. Chambers was sentenced to one year in prison last week after a guilty plea for conspiracy numbers.
A spokesman for Trump’s campaign was asked if the campaign knew about the accusations at the time, and whether it was the former president who sought support from the rapper, or vice versa.
“As Sheff G said, “They always whisper your achievements and scream out your failures,” replied campaign spokesman Steven Cheung.
Prosecutors said Chef G showered money and jewels on gang members fighting his rival in Brooklyn.
They say the rapper acted at least once as a vacation driver, driving three co-defendants in the 2021 shooting, targeting rivals, but instead attacked two bystanders. According to prosecutors, Chef G took gang members to a gorgeous dinner at a Manhattan steakhouse to celebrate the 2020 shooting and the 2020 shooting.
Surveillance videos, social media posts, text messages and other evidence document criminal activity, and the two rappers also boasted about the misdeeds of their songs, Gonzalez’s office said.
Arthur Adara, Chef G’s lawyer, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment Wednesday. He previously said that plea bargains are in “the greatest benefit of all involved.”
Chef G and Three-Hello were one of the most well-known names that Trump was promoted during the suspension of the campaign.
