WASHINGTON (AP) — When nonprofits make plans. American 250th Anniversary Ceremony When its leaders decided they wanted a piece of jewelry to commemorate this milestone in history, they knew where to look for guidance.
America250.org has partnered with the White House Historical Society since 1981. Popular Christmas tree ornaments now on sale Honor important anniversaries of presidents and the White House. More than 1 million of these ornaments are now sold each year.
The two groups worked together to create a memento to commemorate the anniversary, officially known as the semi-quincentennial, which America250.org unveiled on Monday.
The limited edition handcrafted ornament depicts the Declaration of Independence, the document used by the Second Continental Congress to announce its separation from Great Britain on July 4, 1776. President Donald Trump is A copy displayed in the Oval Office.
One side of the memorabilia features a document printed on linen, and the other side features the American 250 logo with the American flag waving over the White House and a red ribbon marking the years 1776-2026. The ornament is trimmed with 24k gold.
Organizers say they see the celebration of America’s founding as an opportunity to unite a politically divided nation. “This is a time for us to reflect on the past 250 years and, more importantly, to consider where we are going in the next 250 years,” said Jennifer Condon, executive vice president of America250.org.
Mr Condon said he hoped the decorations would make a small contribution to that effort, calling them “a true symbol of the unity that we strive for.”
It’s unusual for the White House Association to release ornaments outside of its annual holiday season. Stewart McLaughlin, president of the White House Association, said his nonprofit helped create a collector’s piece that “embodies the spirit and history of our country.”
It was made by the veteran-owned Rhode Island Company, which makes White House Association decorations, and will be available exclusively on America250.org starting Monday for $26.95, and on the White House Association website in January.
