Tim Roth, Cristo Fernández & Martha Higareda Howes Board ‘Holy Molé’

-

EXCLUSIVE: Oscar nominee Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction), Cristo Fernández (Ted Lasso) and Martha Higareda Howes (Queens on the Run) are set to star in comedy Holy Molé, which Odin’s Eye will be selling at the upcoming Cannes market.

The film will follow a pompous food critic (Roth) and the earnest son-of-a-chef (Fernández) who must outcook, outrun, and outwit a ruthless queen-pin (Higareda Howes) in order to save the son’s family restaurant – and themselves. Currently in pre-production, the film is slated for delivery in Q2, 2026.

Pic is written by Australian scribe Phil Lloyd (Population 11) and will be helmed by veteran commercials director Roderick Fenske, marking his feature debut. Micah Mason (The Internship) is producing alongside Casper Shirazi for Fenske’s new outfit, Steamroller of Positivity Productions. Higareda Howes is also executive-producing with her prodco NeverEnding Media.

Oscar nominee and Grammy winner Germaine Franco (Encanto) is aboard as composer, while casting director is Carla Hool (Emilia Perez), and cinematographer will be Pedro Gómez Millán. Executive producers include Odin’s Eye’s Michael Favelle and Petrina Hull, along with Joseph Lanius.

Mexican star Higareda Howes, known for movies including Queens on the Run and the No Manches Frida franchise, said: “As an actor and producer it’s very unique to run into a story that is both hilarious and meaningful while highly entertaining, and Holy Molé is all that and more. This movie is a celebration of who we are as humans and as latinos — our flavors, our family, and the fun we have while pursuing our dreams. I’m so excited to be part of the team led by Roderick, Micah and Casper, honored to work with Tim Roth and Cristo Fernández, and proud to be part of a story that makes us laugh (a lot) while honoring our roots and wonderful values.”

Fenske, who has directed commercials for brands including Microsoft, Honda, British Airways and Las Vegas Tourism, added: “I’m thrilled to be bringing this cinematic comedy to life alongside our extraordinary cast and crew. At a moment when the world feels divided, sharing a story that celebrates our common humanity — and makes us laugh out loud together — has never felt more vital.”

Holy Molé delivers exactly what global audiences crave: big laughs, bigger stakes, and genuine heart,” said Odin’s Eye Entertainment CEO Michael Favelle.

Roth is represented by CAA, Jackoway Tyerman, and Markham, Froggatt & Irwin. Fernández is represented by Gersh, Authentic, Fergo Mgmt (MX), and Jackoway Austen. Higareda Howes is represented by Untitled Entertainment and Weinstein Senior LLP.
