Reports say the Manchester United team was “relieved” to see Andre Onana leaving the club for one reason.
Onana joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on Thursday after losing first-choice goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir to Super LIG Champions Galatasaray.
The Cameroonian spent two seasons at Old Trafford, making many famous errors and led UTD boss Amorim to replace him with No. 1 in the beginning of 2025/26.
Altay Bayindir came aside for the opening of the three Premier League matches of the campaign, and with the signature of Senne Lammens, Red Devils were forced to offload Onana.
His options are limited to Turkey and Saudi Arabia as the transfer window remains open beyond the Premier League’s September 1 deadline, and Onana found herself at the club that finished seventh in the Turkish super rig last season.

When Monaco asked about the former Inter goalkeeper in the summer window, the French side ba humiliated the player at Man UTD’s £30 million asking price, in addition to the player’s weekly wage demand.
Runmen is expected to move forward with Bay Indeal’s No. 1 shirt, but it is unclear whether he will come straight aside for Sunday’s derby against Manchester City.
It was the arrival of the Belgians that changed the mood of the Man UTD team as players were “reliable” to see Onana leave. So there was no circus with four first-team goalkeepers.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Man UTD player was keen to “avoid nonsense in the four-man goalkeeping division,” so they felt “safe” when Onana left.
“Amorim’s team felt that, following the addition of Lanman, it would be a problem if Onana stayed.”

Meanwhile, another report from male journalist Samuel Luckhurst delves into Onana’s era, stating that the 29-year-old was under the impression that he was safe because of his warm relationship with Amorim.
The moment when Onana “really didn’t recover” was his “Way Better” QUIP in the spell of Old Trafford, boasting his error, but Man UTD faced Lyon in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
The Red Devils, despite the best efforts of the Cameroonians, were able to knock Lyon out after Lyon star and former unit midfielder Nemanja Matic returned to being the worst ‘keeper’ in Manchester United history.
“If you’re one of the worst “keepers in Manchester United history, you need to take care of them,” Matic said.
“If David de Gere, Peter Schmeichel, or Edwin van der Sall said that, I would question myself.
“But statistically, if you’re one of the worst goalkeepers in modern Manchester United history, he needs to show it before he says that.”
The report claims that Man Utd officials were “unhappy” to Onana due to his comments.
