How Tom Sandoval’s America’s Got Talent Audition has become truly (exclusive)
Tom Sandoval stepped into the dizzying light.
Vanderpump Rules alumni and his band Tom Sandoval & The Most Extras performed a cover of Weeknd’s “Diazzling Lights” on August 19th of the NBC competition, reaching the quarterfinals of the American Got Talent.
Juryers Howie Mandel, Mel B and Sofia Vergara praised Tom for their energy, but Simon Cowell felt that the overall performance was flattened and hit the buzzer midway to tell the frontman, “That was something I wasn’t afraid of.”
Tom’s reaction to criticism? “As soon as I proceeded, my ears went out,” he said of the audio monitor.
Still, Tom insisted that when Mel B called him, he hadn’t made excuses for his volatile performance. As he said, “I exploded.”
The Tomtom founder made his AGT debut in June, playing a cover of A-Ha’s “Take On Me.” The performance received high praise from the judges, with Mel B raving about Tom’s specific rendition of the 1985 smash hit, “giving me a happy atmosphere.”
