When will Richarlison learn? No, he’ll never learn that taking off your top to celebrate a goal never ends well. The same thing happened in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
Richarlison scored what appeared to be Tottenham’s deciding goal on Saturday afternoon, but Matthijs de Ligt equalized in the 96th minute.
Spurs 2-2 Man Utd: Key stats
Man United score with just two shots on target Spurs come back from 1-0 down with two goals in seven minutes Big chance missed: Spurs 2 – 0 Man United
Overall it was a terrible game, but the ending was a total mess. Spurs gave Ruben Amorim’s side the lead in the first half with a header from Brian Mbeumo, before hitting back with goals in the 84th and 91st minutes.
Richarlison instinctively nodded home a header from Wilson Odbert and celebrated by taking off his shirt, but as history tells us, things never ended well.
Sure enough, De Ligt’s header in the sixth minute of stoppage time earned United, who are currently unbeaten in five Premier League games, a draw, but for the second week in a row United were 1-0 down, conceding two quick goals and having to claw back a point.
The draw leaves the Red Devils seventh in the Premier League, with Thomas Frank’s side moving up to third despite being 17th with just five points after six home games.

Richarlison is a joker and has to learn
In a typical exchange between Richard Keys and Andy Gray at full-time, Keys was unimpressed by Richarlison’s blessing, especially considering he returned to bite Richarlison against Liverpool in 2022-23.
Back in April 2023, Richarlison scored the last equalizer against Spurs at Anfield, removing his shirt in front of the away fans… moments later Diogo Jota scored to make it 4-3.

Here’s the conversation between Keys and Gray on beIN Sports:
Keys: “Will he never learn? Will he never learn, Richarlison? We’ve seen it before. We saw it at Anfield, remember? And it all went horribly wrong. I understand.”
Gray: “Listen, he thinks he won. There’s 90 minutes left. He was a little excited.”
Keyes: “I guess you could say he got too excited.”
Gray: “Yes, we all did. We thought we had won. We didn’t play well for 80 minutes. We looked like we were going to lose the game. Seven minutes into the game, all of a sudden we were leading heading into stoppage time. I thought he (Amorim) had lost. I thought he (Richarlison) had won. But I’m sorry, Richarlison, especially when they (United) went down to 10 men.”
Keys: “It wasn’t a cup-winning goal. It could have been a game-winning goal, but in the end, of course, there’s still time for things to change and that’s what we did when he got sent off at Anfield. I don’t think you can argue with the result. No, can you?”
At some point Richarlison really has to learn that celebrating late goals like that will never end well for him. He’s a magnet for bloody jokes.
