A move from Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly “close” and the Premier League side could be “forced” into the market for a replacement.
Spurs have made a strong start to the 2025/26 season under new head coach Thomas Frank and are third in the Premier League after seven games.
Former Brentford manager Frank has made some small changes to bring out the best at Tottenham, with unexpected bright spot Richarlison enjoying a resurgence in the north London side.
Richarlison was heavily linked with his departure in the summer, but he took advantage of Dominic Solanke’s injury troubles to shine in the opening game of the season. He has scored three goals and provided one assist in the Premier League this season.
Despite this, Richarlison still has a chance of leaving, with recent reports claiming that Spurs will “accept offers” for Richarlison in January after “opening the door” to a move to MLS.

Now, a report from Football Insider has provided further information on Richarlison’s situation, with the striker “inching closer” to leaving the club.
Former Premier League chief scout Mick Brown, who remains “very well connected within the game”, explained why his departure would “force” Spurs into the market for a new attacker.
“Richarlison may be tempted to leave Tottenham,” Brown told Football Insider.
“But then they will have to sign a new striker because they don’t have the depth to release someone without replacing them in that position.
“Given the current market situation, we don’t have a lot of strikers. Anyone we buy, especially in the middle of the season, it’s not going to be cheap.”
“It depends on how much money they get from Richarlison, because that might make a difference.
“Otherwise, I think it would be hard to let him go because they can’t do without him.
“Solanke’s injury problems mean they need someone who can fill in during his absence. They are not going to put themselves in a situation where they are short.”

Spurs are one of the clubs linked with Brentford star Nathan Collins, so they could be in the market for a new forward as well as a centre-back next year.
Meanwhile, Spurs claim they are “considering a January move for Lazio centre-back Mario Gila” after being caught offside, and that a deal could be “confirmed” if a €50 million (about £43 million) offer is made.
The report adds:
“Tottenham are not alone, with Crystal Palace, Brighton and Everton all eyeing the Spaniard, with concrete interest in the summer, while Brighton and Bournemouth are thought to have made contact with the player’s camp as they consider options for the centre-back.
“The Roman club is in a stronger position in negotiations. Gila’s contract runs until 2027. Contract sources say Lazio will only sign him for between 45 and 50 million euros. That valuation should not scare Tottenham.”
