We’re getting the first look at footage of The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, Hulu‘s upcoming limited series starring Grace Van Patten as the wrongfully accused killer.
“In 2007, I was halfway around the world, studying abroad in Italy,” Knox says in a voiceover as she arrives home to her apartment to find her roommate dead. “I had no idea that my dream was about to become a nightmare.”
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox is inspired by the true story of Amanda Knox was wrongfully convicted for the tragic murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free. The series traces Amanda’s relentless fight to prove her innocence and reclaim her freedom and examines why authorities and the world stood so firmly in judgment.
The trailer begins with Knox explaining her decision to return to Italy. “Why would I return to a country where I was convicted of murder? Because in order to move forward, I need to go back,” she says.
The series also stars Sharon Horgan, John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico and Roberta Mattei.
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox hails from 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company. KJ Steinberg (This Is Us) is creator and executive producer. Executive producers include Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, & Graham Littlefield (The Littlefield Company); Monica Lewinsky (Alt Ending Productions); Amanda Knox & Chris Robinson (Knox Robinson Productions); and Michael Uppendahl, who also directs.
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox premieres August 20 on Hulu with the first two episodes. followed by one episode weekly.
