Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott argues that Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi should not start on the same gunners team that they “very similar.”
Gunner went back early with Man City on Sunday, and Ehringhaaland produced a clinical finish and led the citizens in nine minutes.
Both teams had the opportunity to change their scoreline before Gabriel Martinelli appeared in the 3 minutes of injury time in the second half.
This point sees Arsenal in second place at the Premier League table, Tottenham blew his head off and Man City in ninth place at the table.
With Merino, Zubimendi and Declan Rice all in, the gunners lined up in a very defensive midfield, but Ebebekiese began on the Arsenal bench.
When asked about Arsenal’s midfield balance, Walcott said in his match that day:

“Merino isn’t, so I want to see someone like someone who can be a little more creative.
“We have similar players and you have a lot of players too.
“Merino and Zubimendi are that, and in that sense they are very similar, sometimes they reach each other’s way of doing things. For me, the balance is not right.”
Walcott added: “My question is, why did Arsenal take up to 90 minutes to make the attack, why wasn’t it at the start of the game?
“I’m not usually critical of Arteta, but I feel like he escaped with one today. He admitted that he made the wrong choice for his team by doing his two submarines at halftime.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that Martinelli and Eze should have started the match against Mikel Arteta with his approach too carefully.
Wright told Premier League Productions: “In my eyes, I’m starting Martinelli and Eze.
“Martinelli can move the crowd. Eze can make the pass as he saw it. We need to start it quickly.
“We’re looking at the side of the city we came to protect. When have we seen it? We’ve never seen it.”
Asked about Arteta, whose Wright is labelled “finisher” rather than a starter, Wright continued.
“In fact, you have to come, so you have to try and save the game again.
“You want to start the game and prove that you can do it when you start.
“Are he going to get typecast now? He did it in the Champions League, so he did it in another big game with a big team.
“At one stage, ‘When do you get the chance to be a starter?’ – you know, his performance with him getting off the bench and doing what he’s doing is, “I’m going to prove I want more, I can do more, and when I get the opportunity, I have to be more consistent, so people don’t think I’m not going to shock the players.”
Former Arsenal and Man City striker Emmanuel Adebayor added:
“I think Arteta is in that situation right now. He’s going to have a player who knocks on the door every week and says, ‘I want to play.’ That’s where he has to make a call.
“He has to manage all these players. If you have a player who wants to play a week or week, that’s not easy. He’s from Brazil. Some are from England.
“They’re international things they want to play in their country. To play in your country, you have to start for your club. It can be a problem for the club, so we’ll see how Arteta manages the situation.”
