MILANO (AP) – The devil was wearing Dolce and Gabbana on Saturday. Meryl Streep took the front row seat at the Milan Theatre, a duo designed as Miranda Priestley for the sequel to “Devil Wares Prada.”
Streep was wearing Priestley’s conventional sunglasses and a Dolce & Gabberna vinyl raincoat as he entered the theatre, escorted by security and followed by Stanley Tucci, who plays the art director in the film.
The character of Streep consulted with Tucci throughout the runway show to music by Italian singer Patti Prabo.
Dolce & Gabbana Press Office confirmed that the scene was filmed for inclusion in a sequel filmed in Milan.
This place reminds movie fans of the original film scene where Anne Hathaway character asks, “gabbana?” after answering the phone.
The rigorously edited Dolce & Gabbana collection of Dolce & Gabbana, from black sheer and lace lingerie with rhinestones and embroidered details, can be seen on screen, as film audiences can see on screens reiffed into nightwear.
The look was layered with leather, brocade and animal print jackets. Footwear ranged from sexy stilettos to fuzzy slippers, and the bags I chose were soft and furry, perfect for hugging after a night out.
The designers posed a beat or two between the conventional bows, while Streep and Tucci were walking into the backstage area as actual fashion audiences jumped on the empty runway to take pictures of fashion history moments.
I sat across the runway from Streep in my role as global editorial director for Vogue in a real life moment of art imagining life inspired by the 2006 film.
The sequel is scheduled for next spring.
