The Wolf King is returning to Netflix, but only for one more series.
Netflix has delivered the long-expected news that the animated epic adventure fantasy series adapted from Curtis Jobling’s Werewolf books would be getting a second run. But the streamer also revealed the British series that will debut on September 11 will be Wolf King’s last. Check out a new trailer below.
Based on Jobling’s hit books, the series from UK indie Lime Pictures follows Drew Ferran (Ceallach Spellman) as he comes of age and discovers he’s the last in a long line of Werewolves, and rightful (yet reluctant) ruler of a land governed by Werelords. Drew must then fight to abolish the tyranny of the Lionlords and reclaim the throne from King Leopold and Prince Lucas, who are voiced by Ralph Ineson and Tom Rhys Harries.
In Season 2, Drew is fighting for his throne and facing enemies from all sides, as he learns the heavy burden of being king — and the daunting task of choosing a queen.
Season 2 sees returning cast members Spellman, Nina Barker-Francis, Georgia Lock and Chris Lew Kum Hoi who play teens alongside Peter Serafinowicz, Paterson Joseph, Kate Fleetwood and David Dawson.
Wolf King is directed by Tom Brass for Jellyfish Pictures and produced by Angelo Abela, Tim Compton, Jobling and Barry Quinn for Lime Pictures.
Netflix has gone big on animation of late but has cancelled animated series in the recent past including Scavengers Reign and Dead End: Paranormal Park.
