EXCLUSIVE: Zosia Mamet (Girls) is the newest addition to Artificial, Luca Guadagnino’s AI-themed feature for Amazon MGM Studios.
No word yet on the role she’ll be playing. Others set to star, as previously announced, include Andrew Garfield, Yura Borisov, Monica Barbaro, Jason Schwartzman, Cooper Hoffman, Ike Barinholtz, Cooper Koch, and Billie Lourd.
Official plot details for Artificial are being kept under wraps, although the film is being described as a comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence. While unconfirmed, sources say the film revolves around the period at the artificial intelligence company OpenAI in 2023 that saw CEO Sam Altman fired and rehired in a matter of days.
Simon Rich penned the script and is producing alongside Heyday Films’ David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford, as well as Jennifer Fox.
Best known for her starring role in the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning HBO series Girls, Mamet has most recently been seen starring in Peacock’s Laid, and before that, Netflix’s period dramedy, The Decameron. She also starred in the Emmy-nominated HBO Max series The Flight Attendant, with other notable credits including Dickinson, Under the Silver Lake, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Weiner-Dog, Mad Men, Greenberg, and United States of Tara, to name just a few.
The actress is repped by UTA, Sugar23, and Weintraub Tobin Chediak.
