Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned), Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU), Sarah Bock (Severance), Daniel Di Tomasso (CSI: Vegas) and Frasier star Jack Cutmore-Scott have been cast as series regulars opposite Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, which has a pilot order at Hulu.
Armstrong plays the new slayer — an introverted high-school student named Nova — in the untitled Buffyverse project, which Gellar executive produces in addition to reprising her signature role as Buffy Summers.
Rakotohavana will play Hugo, a privileged, likable high-school student who is a geek. Jean will play Larkin, another student described as a “chronic do-gooder.” Bock will play Gracie, the ringleader for a group of church-going students. Di Tomasso will play Abe, Nova’s single father who is a photojournalist. Scott will play Mr. Burke, a popular high-school teacher.
Oscar winner Chloé Zhao is directing the pilot, written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. No additional information has been provided about the project, referred to as the next chapter in the Buffyverse, which comes from 20th Television and Searchlight TV.
Rakotohavana was a series regular on Hulu’s Unprisoned and a lead of the Disney+ film Secret Society of Second Born Royals. He is repped by Media Artists Group and The ESI Network.
Jean recently guest starred on Law & Order: SVU and is a series regular on the upcoming Angel Studios musical limited series A Week Away. She is repped by Thruline Entertainment, Evolve Artists Agency and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
Bock is known for her role as Miss Huang in Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Severance. She is repped by the Kutalent Agency, Amplified, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
Major Crimes alum Di Tomasso recently recurred on CSI: Vegas. He is repped by Authentic Talent & Literary Management.
British actor Cutmore-Scott recently starred opposite Kelsey Grammer in Paramount+’s Frasier reboot and recurred on Hulu’s murder mystery series Death and Other Details. He has appeared in three Christopher Nolan features; Oppenheimer, Tenet and Dunkirk. He is repped by UTA, Independent Talent Group, Entertainment 360, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
