Veteran writer Ron Carlivati is leaving his short-term post on Beyond the Gates.
Carlivati joined the CBS sudser after departing Days of Our Lives in 2024. He signed onto Beyond the Gates to help Michele Val Jean, who he used to work with on General Hospital.
“A quick career update from me: I recently wrapped my stint as a writer on Beyond the Gates, the hot new soap opera on CBS created by the incomparable Michele Val Jean,” Carlivati wrote on Instagram. “When Michele called last August and asked me to join her team, I jumped at the chance to be a part of the launch of this groundbreaking and historic show. After recently finishing Season One (200 episodes!), I decided to leave to pursue other projects, but I am beyond proud of what we accomplished and beyond grateful to Michele and to Executive Producer Sheila Ducksworth for this extraordinary opportunity. Wishing them and everyone at Beyond the Gates a long and successful run.”
Carliati is a two-time, Daytime Emmy-winning veteran of the soaps. Before joining Beyond the Gates, he served for seven years as the head writer for Days of Our Lives. He also wrote for General Hospital and One Live to Live.
In May, Beyond the Gates was renewed for a second season by CBS. At the time of the pickup, the sudser from Michele Val Jean was up 67% in multiplatform viewership from last years’ time period and as beating ABC’s General Hospital by 7% among women 25-54 on broadcast, according to Nielsen.
