As VP of features editorial, Sicha will oversee verticals including travel, style, wellness and culture, as CEO Mark Thompson seeks to boost CNN’s digital offerings beyond hard news.
Sicha most recently has been at Vox Media, where he was editor at large for New York magazine. At the Times, Sicha “was instrumental in transforming Style’s focus towards subscriber recruitment and engagement and served as the editorial partner of the Times’ advertising department,” CNN noted. The network has recently started a paywall on CNN.com.
Sicha also served as an editor at the New York Observer, and has written for a wide range of publications including Maxim and the New York Review of Books. He was co-founder of The Awl Network, which included The Awl, the Hairpin and The Wirecutter. He will be based out of CNN’s New York bureau and start on May 19.
