EXCLUSIVE: The Colleen Hoover business isn’t slowing down following the success of her last feature adaptation It Ends With Us as sources tell Deadline Maika Monroe is set to star in Universal’s adaptation of Hoover’s novel Reminders of Him. Vanessa Caswill is set to direct the film.
The blockbuster literary phenomenon from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, Reminders of Him, becomes a transformative feature film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart. The screenplay for Reminders of Him is written by Colleen Hoover and Lauren Levine, based on Hoover’s novel.
Hoover and Levine are producing the film through their production company, Heartbones Entertainment. Gina Matthews is producing through Little Engine Productions. Robin Fisichella is executive producing. First published in 2022, Reminders of Him has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States and is a best seller around the world. Hoover is the bestselling author of numerous novels, including It Ends with Us, It Starts with Us, Layla, Heart Bones, Confess and Verity. Director of Production Development Christine Sun will oversee the project for the Studio.
Monroe is coming off a stellar year where she had the hit horror thriller Longlegs break box-office records for an indie distributor and launched her in to A-list stature. She can be seen next project as the lead in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle reimagining at 20th Century. Monroe is represented by Entertainment 360, WME and Felker Toczek.
