It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s the Superman fan event in London!
The team behind the upcoming DC Studios movie stopped by London for a fan event last night, ahead of the film’s official world premiere in LA next week. Fans dressed up as Superman and various other DCU characters descended on London’s Leicester Square and competed for Superman-themed prizes. Deadline was on the red carpet and spoke to the Superman writer, director and producer James Gunn and stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult. Producer Peter Safran was also in attendance.
Below, you can watch all of our top interview moments, which include Corenswet speaking about trying on the DC superhero costume for the first time and describing Superman as “the renaissance of comic book films,” Brosnahan talking about her version of Lois Lane interviewing Corenswet’s Superman, Hoult comparing his rendition of Lex Luthor to others like Gene Hackman and Jesse Eisenberg, and Gunn discussing the film’s message about kindness and the possibility of reuniting Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman on the big screen.
“I appreciate that James made space in this film for the importance of journalistic integrity,” Brosnahan said.
Superman is the first film of the DC Universe titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Corenswet dons the cape this time as Superman, who must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way, he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.
Superman will hit theaters July 11, 2025.
