‘Forge’ Filmmaker Jing Ai Ng Signs With Black Bear

-

EXCLUSIVE: Black Bear‘s management arm has signed writer and director Jing Ai Ng for representation.

Ng’s debut feature, Forge, premiered this year at SXSW. Developed through Film Independent’s Screenwriters Lab, Forge is set in Miami’s art world and follows siblings Raymond and Coco Zhang—gifted but struggling artists who operate a covert forgery ring from the back of their family’s restaurant. When a disgraced millionaire coerces them into recreating masterpieces for his private collection, they become entangled in a dangerous web of deception and ambition. The film stars Kelly Marie Tran and Andie Ju.

Ng’s short film Delta, an Asian-American folk story, won Gold in the Passion Project category at the 2023 Cannes Lions Young Director Award. She also holds an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute Conservatory, where she made the short Fleck as her thesis project. A coming-of-age drama, Fleck follows Jamie, an Asian-American teenager navigating life at a predominantly white boarding school. The film won the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Student Award.

Other artists repped by Black Bear include Robert Schwentke and September 5 director Tim Fehlbaum. On the film side, Black Bear’s slate includes Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams, starring Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, the Sydney Sweeney-led untitled Christy Martin boxing project from director David Michôd, and Guy Ritchie’s In The Grey, starring Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez.
