EXCLUSIVE: The White Lotus star Parker Posey will receive the inaugural Legend Tribute at the second annual Gotham Television Awards, taking place live at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City and livestreaming on YouTube on Monday, June 2nd.
The Gothams’ new award was created to honor television’s most beloved and influential performers. Posey’s recognition comes in recognition of her remarkable impact on the industry as she continues to captivate global audiences, most recently with her performance in The White Lotus Season 3.
“From her early, iconic work in independent film to her celebrated performances in acclaimed studio films and hit television series, and now to her unforgettable turn in The White Lotus, Parker Posey has brought a singular voice and spirit to every role,” said The Gotham’s Executive Director, Jeffrey Sharp. “Her unmistakable artistry, fearless originality, and emotional truth shine through in every performance, exemplifying the creative excellence and cultural impact the Gotham Television Awards were established to celebrate. We are thrilled to honor Posey, a true television icon, with this year’s inaugural Legend Tribute.”
An Emmy, Golden Globe, Gotham, and Independent Spirit Award nominee, Posey steals scenes as unforgettable, Lorazepam-popping North Carolina matriarch Victoria Ratliff in the recently aired season of The White Lotus, sharing the screen primarily with Jason Isaacs, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook and Sam Nivola, who play the other members of her family.
Recently, the iconic comedic talent has also been seen in projects including Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith and acclaimed indies Thelma and Beau Is Afraid. Most recently, she’s reteamed with Sam Rockwell — another big standout of The White Lotus S3 — on Wild Horse Nine, Oscar winner Martin McDonagh’s new film for Searchlight. She’s represented by CAA and Schreck Rose Dapello.
At this year’s Gotham Television Awards, Squid Game‘s Hwang Dong-hyuk will join Étoile‘s Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino in receiving a Creator Tribute, as previously announced. Elisabeth Moss and the cast of The Handmaid’s Tale will receive the inaugural Ensemble Tribute, with Brian Tyree Henry receiving the Performer Tribute, Sheryl Lee Ralph receiving the Sidney Poitier Icon Tribute, and David E. Kelley being feted with the Visionary Tribute.
