HBO‘s Harry Potter series has unveiled a first look at Harry in his wizarding robes, as cameras roll on one of the most anticipated shows of the year.
There have also been a number of new cast additions including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
The additions join a wealth of big names that have been announced for the series over the past months including John Lithgow, Paapa Essiedu, Janet McTeer and Nick Frost, who will play Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape and Rubeus Hagrid respectively.
The previous cast announcement saw Lox Pratt slated to play Draco Malfoy, with Johnny Flynn as his father Lucius Malfoy. In more family castings, Bel Powley was cast as Petunia Dursley and Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Harry’s aunt and uncle. Additionally, Katherine Parkinson will play Ron’s mom, Molly Weasley.
This followed the biggest casting of them all, the three young leads, who will be played by newcomers Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley) and Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger) in the HBO franchise that is set to run for a decade.
Cameras will start rolling soon at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK.
The series has been described as a “faithful adaptation” of the beloved books and is being exec produced by the source material’s author J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series, produced by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. Rowling executive produces with Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
