The Tri Series between the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and Afghanistan was written in a hurry as a warm-up for the Asian Cup and the T20 World Cup.
The United Arab Emirates will be holding the Twenty20 Tri series, which includes Afghanistan and Pakistan later this month as part of building teams for next year’s T20 World Cup.
Sharjah will be holding all seven Tri-Series games starting August 29th. The teams face each other twice before the top two make it to the finals.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have already secured direct qualifications for the T20 World Cup for joint holdings by India and Sri Lanka. The UAE was also able to qualify, but will need to perform the ICC Asia East Asia and Pacific Qualifiers in Oman in October.
Afghanistan, who finished seventh in the last T20 World Cup, has not played the T20 since the bilateral series against Zimbabwe at the end of last year. Pakistan is currently playing the T20 series against the West Indies in the US.
The Tri Series is followed by the Asian Cup, which will take place in the UAE from September 9th, when Afghanistan appears in Hong Kong in the opening game.
