EXCLUSIVE: Post-airing of the first season of Dexter: Original Sin, the critically acclaimed serial killer prequel where he plays a young Dexter Morgan, Patrick Gibson has come aboard for a role in Play Dead, the new survival thriller from Carry-On‘s Jaume Collet-Serra.
In the film described as Don’t Breathe meets 1917, he’ll share the screen with Noah Jupe and Matthias Schweighöfer. No further details yet on the plot of the film or his role. Production is underway in Australia now.
Nocturnal is financing and producing alongside Ghost House Pictures, BoulderLight Pictures, and Bad Grey. Written by Peter Stanley-Ward & Natalie Conway, the film’s producers include Akiva Nemetsky and Keaton Heinrichs for Nocturnal, along with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert for Ghost House, JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules for BoulderLight, and Dane Eckerle for Bad Grey. Romel Adam and Jose Cañas are overseeing for Ghost House, with Louis Winters overseeing for BoulderLight. Scott Greenberg of LBI is exec producing, with Jazmyn Tanski overseeing.
Known for starring in series like The OA and Shadow and Bone — both for Netflix — Gibson recently saw a second season pick-up for Dexter: Original Sin, which in April garnered Showtime’s biggest streaming premiere, with over 2.1 million global cross-platform viewers. The rising Irish actor is repped by Gersh, Range Media Partners, Curtis Brown Group, and attorney Christopher D. Abramson.
