Hallmark Media will premiere Providence Falls, a three-part Special Event adaptation based on Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets’ book series, starring Katie Stevens (The Bold Type, Criminal), Lachlan Quarmby (Allegiance, The Watchful Eye) and Evan Roderick (Spinning Out, Aurora Teagarden).
The trilogy is produced by Reckless Pictures in association with JoAnna Garcia Swisher’s Rolling Clover prodco, Treehouse Media and Basset Hound Distribution. Production was completed earlier this year. It’s set to air August 2 at 8 pm ET/PT on Hallmark Channel and stream next day on Hallmark+, as part of Hallmark’s “Summer Nights” programming event.
“Providence Falls is a beautiful and heartfelt tale of love and redemption. As a longtime fan of Jude Deveraux’s writing, I knew we needed to adapt this as soon as Joanna pitched it,” said Jessica Callahan, VP Programming. “Hallmark viewers will be swept into the mystery, gorgeous period costumes, and most of all, the epic romance.”
Set in 1844 Ireland, Providence Falls revolves around Liam O’Conner (Quarmby), a rogue and a thief, who falls in love with Cora McLeod (Stevens), a fiery but sheltered aristocrat’s daughter, who is promised in marriage to a man she barely knows. Their plan to make a new life together in America is thwarted, and the consequences of Liam and Cora’s unlikely love ripples through time, causing everyone to relive the events of the past. Now the Angels of Destiny need Liam’s help to set things right and if he doesn’t succeed, his very soul is on the line. They transport Liam to present day to help this incarnation of Cora fall in love with Finn (Roderick), the man she was destined to marry in 1844. Liam would give anything to reunite with his beloved Cora but only he retains the memories of their past together. Now a cop in Providence Falls, Oregon, Cora feels an inexplicable connection to Liam, who is introduced as her new partner. And as they tackle a big case together, Liam sees the same passion and adventurous nature in Cora that he had fallen in love with. With everyone’s lives at stake, Liam must overcome unexpected and otherworldly obstacles in his mission. Perhaps none as powerful as his own undying love for Cora.
“Our book club, Rolling Clover Reads, is one of my favorite extensions of The Happy Place,” shared Swisher. “I’m always searching for great stories to share with our community, ones I believe best represent what we stand for and our audience enjoys and I think The Providence Falls trilogy is the perfect story for us to launch under our new banner. I discovered the material while filming in the magical and historic hills of Ireland for Hallmark, and I was instantly swept up in the romance and the idea of soulmates finding each other again and again across time. I’ve always loved the notion that love can be eternal, and these books offered the perfect backdrop for a sweeping, epic love story and I believe the Hallmark audience will fall in love with Providence Falls just as I did.”
Deveraux shared, “I have always been a fan of the Hallmark Channel and now to be part of it is a great honor. I am excited about seeing my characters come to life!”
