EXCLUSIVE: Independent studio SK Global has hired Elizabeth Haggard for the role of Senior Vice President of Feature Film, which will have her help lead the company’s film slate through development, production, and post-production, reporting to Head of Features, Mark O’Connor.
Haggard joins from Participant, where she served as SVP of Narrative Film, leading the development and production of films like Kahlil Joseph’s BLKNWS and John Ridley’s Shirley, a biopic of America’s first Black congress woman, Shirley Chisholm, starring Regina King. She’s just the latest addition from the now-defunct media company, which last April announced its intention to cease operations, following Jeannie Tang, who joined as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel last summer.
“Elizabeth is a seasoned and well-regarded executive, and we are thrilled to have her join our team as we continue to expand our slate,” said SK Global’s O’Connor. “She brings a wealth of expertise from her varied and unique background, having spearheaded an array of critically acclaimed projects throughout her career. As a true producer, she has an innate talent for development and packaging, and she knows how to execute productions efficiently. Our entire team looks forward to working closely with her on our broad slate of exciting feature projects.”
Prior to Participant, Haggard spent three years at Ramona Films, where she produced the critically acclaimed Zola for A24, as well as Dave Franco’s directorial debut, The Rental, for IFC Films and Black Bear Pictures. She was an executive producer on the UCP pilot Masters of Doom and counts Hulu’s Emmy-winning Pam & Tommy among the projects she’s developed. Previously, Haggard spent nine years at Universal Pictures, where she started her career. She received a BFA in Theatre Studies and a BA in English from Southern Methodist University and is a member of the PGA.
Known for titles like Anyone But You, Crazy Rich Asians, Hell or High Water and The Place Beyond the Pines, SK Global has produced and financed over 100 features, dating back to its origins as Sidney Kimmel Entertainment. Most recently, they wrapped on Michael Russell Gunn’s political thriller Reykjavik, based on the true events surrounding the tense 1986 Icelandic summit between the United States and the Soviet Union, starring Jeff Daniels, Jared Harris, and J.K. Simmons.
