Slime, a sticky, sticky plaything often handcrafted, was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame on Thursday, along with perennial best-selling games Battleship and Trivial Pursuit.

Milton Bradley’s Battleships, a strategy game that challenges players to attack opposing warships, and Trivial Pursuit, which tests players’ knowledge in categories such as geography and sports, each sold more than 100 million copies over several decades, according to the Hall of Fame.
Battleships began as a paper-and-pencil game in the 1930s, but it was Milton Bradley’s 1967 plastic version with folding stations and ship models that became popular with the public. Its popularity reached its peak in 2012 when Universal Pictures and Hasbro, which now owns Milton Bradley, released the movie Battleship, which was loosely based on the game. According to the Hall of Fame, Battleships was also one of the first board games to be computerized in 1979, and there are now numerous electronic versions.
Trivial Pursuit allows players to compete alone or in teams as they move around the board and answer trivia questions in exchange for wedges of game pieces. Canadian journalists Chris Haney and Scott Abbott invented the game in 1979 and eventually sold the rights to Hasbro. Chief curator Chris Bensch said frequently updated specialized versions aimed at younger players, baby boomers and other demographics have appeared, and daily online quizzes keep players interested.
