Spotify has rarely provided much insight into its users’ listening habits. Previously, users had to link their accounts to a service like Last.fm to track their music, or wait until the end of the year when Spotify released Wrapped, a personalized year-in-review to find out what they listened to.
The streaming giant is now trying to change that with a new feature called “Listening Statistics,” which shows weekly numbers about your listening habits.
Statistics show you the top artists and top songs of a given week, and you can share those numbers with others using Instagram and WhatsApp, or directly with friends on Spotify using the app’s new messaging feature. Spotify said weekly highlights will also include special moments such as milestones and new events.
A discovery or fan moment.

The stats page also gives you the option to create playlists based on songs you already like or songs you want to hear next based on your listening habits.
To access your statistics, tap your profile picture and select the (Listening Statistics) tab. From there, you’ll be able to check what you’re listening to, share your stats, and more.
Listening Statistics is currently rolled out to free and premium users in over 60 countries. Spotify said it will continue to release its annual roundup through Wrapped, which is usually highly anticipated as users can share each other’s top artists and other insights.
New listening statistics may give users a better understanding of their listening patterns on a more regular basis, but it could take away the element of surprise of discovering tidbits about yourself at the end of the year.
