EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV+’s Sugar, starring and executive produced by Colin Farrell, has cast three more new series regulars for next season: Shea Whigham (Fargo), Raymond Lee (Quantum Leap) and Sasha Calle (The Flash). They join a Season 2 series regular contingent that also includes fellow new cast additions Jin Ha, Laura Donnelly and Tony Dalton.
Created by Mark Protosevich, Sugar is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture, and television history: the private detective story. In addition to Farrell, the ensemble cast for the first season included Kirby, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, and Alex Hernandez.
Whigham is believed to be playing a government agency employee helping Sugar (Farrell) in his investigations. Calle is believed to be portraying a hustler working for Sugar.
Season 2 of Sugar is showrun by Sam Catlin, who also executive produces under his Short Drive Entertainment banner. Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg executive produce for Genre Films under Kinberg’s first look deal with Apple TV+. Farrell, Scott Greenberg, Chip Vucelich, Christopher Rogers, and Gary Tieche also serve as executive producers. Claudine Farrell co-executive produces.
Whigham most recently starred in the Netflix limited series American Primeval and in Magnolia Pictures’ Lake George. He will next be reprising his role as Jasper Briggs in Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning and will also be seen in Netflix’s Death by Lighting and Paramount+’s series Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey. Whigham is repped by WME and Range Media Partners.
Lee played tee lead in NBC’s Quantum Leap reboot. He also appeared in the indie The Unknown Country Lily Gladstone and in Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick. Lee is repped by Gersh, Stephanie Nese Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Calle made her feature film debut as Supergirl in The Flash movie. She will next be seen in Sony Picture Classics’ On Swift Horses alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jacob Elordi, Netflix’s RIP as well as Wardriver. Calle is repped by CAA, The Society and attorney Sloan Whiteside-Munteanu.
