Bravo is heading to the smallest state for some more big drama as it orders its latest spinoff of The Real Housewives.
The NBCU-owned cable network has officially greenlit The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
This comes after rumors that the Andy Cohen-exec produced franchise was heading to the Ocean State started in December.
The network did not reveal casting for the series but said it would be set in the “world of a tight-knit circle of Rhode Islanders who have deep community roots and families that go back generations”.
The franchise began in 2006 with The Real Housewives of Orange County and has exploded across America in the last 20 years. It marks the eleventh traditional spinoff of the series, which currently has franchise in New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, Beverly Hills, Miami, Potomac and Salt Lake City as well as the OC. There were previous iterations set in D.C. and Dallas as well as the Ultimate Girls Trip spinoff.
There are also multiple international versions of the show including in Dubai as well as notable spinoffs including Vanderpump Rules and Dorina Medley’s upcoming Blue Stone Manor series.
The move comes as part of Bravo’s new slate, which also consists of another Real Housewives spinoff, this one combing with British format Wife Swap – Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition. Elsewhere on the slate, there’s the return of Ladies of London and a new spinoff of The Valley.
The Real Housewives of Rhode Island is produced by Evolution Media, which produces The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as well as Vanderpump Rules and Botched. Lucilla D’Agostino, Joseph Ferraro and Jen McClure-Metz executive produce alongside Cohen.
