The TV Academy just pissed off a large swathe of voters in Los Angeles by revealing that it is announcing nominations for two major categories earlier than expected.
The Academy just sent a note out to studios and networks to inform them that the late-night and reality categories would be revealed live on CBS at 4:47 a.m. PT, four hours before the rest of the nominations.
“We just wanted to share that the categories of Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Talk Series will be announced EARLY tomorrow morning on CBS Mornings at around 7:47am EDT in their What To Watch segment. Please inform your teams as needed,” a note from the “Talent Relations Team” noted.
Why these two categories? Well, they’re likely to be the only two categories that CBS, which is hosting this year’s event will be nominated in with shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Amazing Race likely in the mix (Survivor missed out last year).
