UPDATED, 1:23 PM: The Writers Guild of America West has penciled in the full list of candidates for its 2025 board of directors and officer election. The only changes from last month’s announcement are that Malcolm Spellman is new to the list of board hopefuls and incumbent Dante W. Harper withdrew his candidacy for the board on Tuesday. The deadline for submitting signed petitions to the WGAW was at noon PT today.
PREVIOUSLY, June 23: The Writers Guild of America West has announced the candidates for its upcoming 2025 Officers and Board of Directors election.
Michele Mulroney, the guild’s current Vice President, has emerged as the sole nominee for President. If approved, she will take over from current President Meredith Stiehm.
The candidates for Vice President are Jeffrey Thompson and Travis Donnelly. For Secretary-Treasurer, the nominees are Peter Murrieta and Van Robichaux.
Additionally, there are 17 candidates who have been selected to run for eight open seats on the Board of Directors. They are: Rob Forman (incumbent), Evan Mirzai, Matt Ross, Marguerite MacIntyre, Myles Warden, Mike Royce, Gia King, Maggie Levin (incumbent), Jill Goldsmith, Elliott Kalan, Adam Conover (incumbent), Dahéli Hall, Christina Walker, Dante W. Harper (incumbent), Cathryn Humphris, Kevin L. Miller, and Molly Nussbaum (incumbent.
The above candidates were selected by the WGAW’s nominating committee. Eligible members may also be nominated by petition. Those seeking one of the three officer positions will need to obtain 25 member signatures to qualify, while those looking to be on the Board of Directors need 15.
Guild members will receive voting materials, including links to candidate, non-candidate, and rebuttal statements, if any, on Friday, August 29. Candidates may distribute additional campaign materials at their own expense. The voting period concludes on Tuesday, September 23, at 12:00 p.m. PT.
