Elon Musk’s new chief financial officer has been appointed to xAI AI company, former Morgan Stanley banker Anthony Armstrong reported, an anonymous source.
Armstrong previously advised Musk during his Twitter deal, and will oversee the finances of both xAI and X, which merged in April, the report said. The former banker has been working for xAI for several weeks and was recently appointed CFO, the FT added.
xAI has no CFO since former financial director Mike Riveratore left in July, and Armstrong’s appointment comes after a string of resignations from high-profile executives at both xAI and X companies.
xAI general counsel Robert Keele left in August after a little over a year of work. Senior lawyer Ragu Rao also retired at the same time, and Igor Babshkin, one of the co-founders of xAI, announced in August that he would leave to launch his own VC company specializing in AI safety research. Former X CEO Linda Jaccarino also resigned in July.
Armstrong will replace Mahmoud Leather Banki, the current Chief Financial Officer of X, who is leaving the office, the FT reported.
xAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
