Betsy Brandt, Aya Cash, Ella Rubin, More To Star In ‘Adult Children’

-

EXCLUSIVE: Director Rich Newey has wrapped on Adult Children, a new coming-of-age dramedy starring Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), Aya Cash (You’re the Worst), Ella Rubin (Until Dawn), Thomas Sadoski (The Newsroom), and Mimi Rogers (Bosch franchise).

Written by Annika Marks, the film follows Morgan (Rubin), a sheltered 17-year-old struggling to define who she is, in order to write her college entrance essay. When a crisis provides her the rare opportunity to spend time with her significantly older half-siblings (Brandt, Cash & Sadoski), she hopes they’ll be able to shed some light on what it means to be an adult, only to be disappointed when she discovers they’re all faking it.

Producers of the indie include Angie Gaffney (Single Car Crashes) for 521 Films, as well as Sadoski, Marks and Newey under their Let’s Try One Productions banner. Executive producers are Randy Lennox and Christopher Keyser, as well as Kelly Waller, Ted Reilly and Mark Glassgow for Chicago Media Angels, which financed the project, and Michele Girgis for Rock River Studios. Brittani Ward handled casting and co-produced, with Amy Beecroft of Verve Ventures repping sales in North America.

“Bringing this story to life hinged entirely on finding the right cast, and we couldn’t have asked for a greater one,” said Newey. “I was absolutely thrilled with the talent and immediate chemistry that Betsy, Aya, Ella and Tommy had on set, and watching them embody the complex relationships of these siblings was incredibly exciting. Their performances are hilarious, heartbreaking and completely authentic, and I can’t wait to share their phenomenal work with festival audiences.”

Previously teaming with writer Marks on Killing Eleanor, a 2020 dramedy that premiered at SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Newey is also known for his work on shows like God Friended Me, Blindspot, and The Fosters, as well as numerous TV movies and high-profile music videos. He’s repped by Kaplan-Stahler, Integral Artists and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

Brandt is repped by TalentWorks, Patty Woo Management, and Del Shaw Moonves; Cash by UTA, Industry Entertainment & Paul Hastings; Rubin by Paradigm, Kipperman Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; Sadoski by Amplified Entertainment & Verve; Rogers by Paradigm & Strand Entertainment; and Marks by Gotham Group and Myman Greenspan Fox.
