Coming off the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special this season, NBC is preparing another variety special marking a milestone next season, the network’s 100th birthday. It was unveiled at NBCUniversal’s 2025 upfront presentation Monday by NBC veterans, Saturday Night Live alums and longtime friends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
“We are going to celebrate this birthday hard with a once in a lifetime television event, NBC 100,” Poehler said. “It will be a star studded variety special commemorating 100 years of culture-defining content from iconic moments to unforgettable stars.”
Added Fey, “Hosted by a mix of legendary NBC alumni and today’s biggest stars, the night will be filled with memorable music performances, comedy tributes, behind the scenes stories and surprise reunions. You’ll be hearing more soon, but I can guarantee this, because it’s twice the age of SNL, it’s going to be twice as long as the SNL anniversary special. That’s right, folks, six hours of a fun decade-by-decade, look back.”
Quipped Poehler, “Get your protein bars in your water bottles ready for that marathon.”
No information on timing was provided but Mark Marshall, Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBCU, recently told Deadline that the milestone will be celebrated in the fall.
“In November 2026, NBC will mark its 100th anniversary, which is already generating traction with buyers,” he said.
As comedians, Fey and Poehler could not resist cracking a few jokes about NBC’s age.
“NBC, you will never date Leonardo DiCaprio.”
NBC, you are as old as two SNLs.”
“Al Roker is definitely going to put your name on a jar of Smucker’s. NBC, congratulations.”
Following a concert special on Feb. 14, NBC marked SNL‘s 50th anniversary with a star-studded three-hour special on Feb. 16.
